Toki Pikorua
This is what is sounds like, a toki with a pikorua carved into it.

The pikorua is on the back. The 5 notches on the sides are to represent whanau members.

It is interesting to see some of the process to carve the pikorua into this toki.

This is a design for a father that has a wonderful wahine to support him. So wonderful she wanted special and unique toki for him. This piece has him and his whanau carved into it in the form of koru.

This greenstone, echoing the very essence of “Whānau Pūmanawa” or “Heart of the Family”, was skillfully crafted into a harmonious set of five pendants and a complementary pair of earrings, encapsulating the deep-rooted connections and stories…

This combination piece was inspired by a carving already in existence. The idea was to create a pendant with both symbols integrated into the design. This piece is a beautiful deep green Toki made from NZ Jade, Pounamu The dark inclusions add variety of colour and character to this piece. I like the tapering from the bottom to the top on this, it accentuates that cutting or bottom edge of the pendant.
