Description
This Kawakawa Pounamu roimata is 70mm long, with a simple, clean form and a flatter base. Rather than narrowing across its width, the taonga gradually becomes thinner from front to back towards the base. The Kawakawa has a rich green colour and develops a gorgeous soft glow when held up to the light. It is finished with a black cord.
Roimata translates as “tear” or “teardrop”. As a taonga, it represents emotion, healing and connection. It can acknowledge the challenges we experience in life and the strength that develops as we move through them. It is also associated with the bonds between people, making it a meaningful shape to wear or give to someone important.
This is a straightforward roimata where the natural beauty of the Kawakawa Pounamu and the meaning of the traditional form are the focus.
