Arohanui – Much Love

This set of koru pendants, named ‘Arohanui,’ captures a son’s love for his mother. Each koru, from the same piece of hapopo pounamu, signifies their life-long bond.

The koru represents new beginnings, peace, and personal growth. This set, when joined, forms a mutual embrace, showing a shared journey of a mother and son.

The pendants began as a raw stone, selected for its potential to embody a powerful connection. Through images, we see the transformation: initial designs etched onto the stone, careful cutting, shaping, and finally, polishing. This process is not just about forming a piece of art; it’s about honoring the connection it represents.

Arohanui is not merely a set of pendants; it is a legacy. It’s the tangible expression of a son’s gratitude and adoration for his mother. These pendants are a wearable narrative, honoring a connection that is as enduring as the stone from which it’s carved.

The porohita/circle was chosen as a symbol of completeness, one to be worn by each in the marriage. The pounamu was selected for its patterning, which gives it…

    Nga Tui Taonga

This was a really cool set to work on. It is some of my favorite type of pounamu being really translucent. It took quite a while to get the design right in consultation with the customer and I am super stoked with how it turned out. These were designed from the characteristics of the tui….
