This taonga is a 60mm Roimata carved from Aroha Stone, a unique and captivating material rich with symbolism. Aroha, meaning “love” in te reo Māori, resonates deeply with the purpose and significance of this piece. The stone itself features stunning hues of deep purples, soft whites, and subtle pinks, creating a visual representation of emotional depth, compassion, and connection.

The Roimata shape, known as the “tear drop,” symbolises strength through adversity, the shedding of tears, and the release of emotions as part of the healing journey. It is a shape that carries a deeply personal meaning, offering comfort and a sense of renewal to those who wear it.

At the top of this taonga, I’ve included a feature hole that draws attention to the lashing—a sleek black cord that not only secures the piece but enhances its aesthetic presence. The lashing style contrasts beautifully with the colours of the stone, making the taonga stand out while maintaining its sense of balance and harmony.
