Mana Wahine – Pounamu Pendant
The downward triangle of this design represents femininity and womanhood. It is a strong symbol that symbolises the Mana and authority of a significant person or Mana Wahine.
This piece has found a home with someone very special to me. Every now and then we realise that there are significant people in our lives. I often struggle with ways to communicate how I feel about these people to them, I find that in carving and gifting pounamu is a very deep and personal way of communicating that someone is special to me.
The surface carving represents the ability to grow life and bring forth new things into the world. The meaning and intention behind a piece of pounamu is the greatest importance of what it is and gives it the most value.
