Description
This unique pair of earrings is made from coloured quartzite collected at Kaitorete Spit in Canterbury â a place where land, sea, and sky converge in a strikingly raw and open landscape. Each piece carries the soft white flowering patterns that bloomed naturally through the stone, resting on a base of moody purples and grey hues.
At 40mm long (not including the silver-coloured hooks), these taonga were cut from the outer edges of a flat beach pebble, leaving one side curved and the other flat â a quiet reminder of balance, of duality, of how we all carry both the polished and weathered parts of ourselves. Worn close to the face, they catch the light in subtle, shifting ways, reflecting something grounded yet open, still yet evolving.
This is a one-off pair, shaped by the whenua and held by the memory of where they were found.
