Paired Niho – Marsden Flower Jade Earrings

$180.00

A stunning set of Marsden Flower Jade earrings, shaped like a naturally matching pair of small niho. These gem-quality Pounamu pieces were tumbled smooth to bring out their natural glow—rich green tones and golden flower-like patterning that speak to the living beauty of the stone. Their form and origin hold meaning beyond appearance, carrying the strength and protection of the niho shape and the deep connection that Pounamu brings.

Description

This set of earrings is made from gem-quality Marsden Flower Jade, one of the most prized types of Pounamu for its luminous depth and golden flower-like inclusions. I was drawn to these two pieces for how they mirrored each other—both in size and in shape—emerging like a small pair of niho (teeth), a form that symbolises strength, protection, and resilience.

Each earring is about 25mm long (not including the hooks), light and comfortable to wear but full of presence. When held to the light, they seem to glow from within. The flower patterning is delicate and striking, like life caught in stone. There’s a quiet power in them—not just from the meaning of the niho, but from the mauri they carry as Pounamu shaped by both nature and human hands.

For me, pieces like this speak to connection—the way two separate forms can emerge in harmony, shaped by shared time, place, and story. These earrings are more than adornment; they are taonga, grounded in the whenua of Aotearoa and created to be worn with intention.
