Pounamu Touchstone

$340.00

This Serpentine Pounamu touchstone is made to be held and carried. A source of calm, focus, and grounding, it connects you to the stone, the whenua it comes from, and the stories you bring to it. It can also serve as a mauri stone, holding and protecting the life force of a whānau, a whare, or a kaupapa.

Description

This touchstone is made from Serpentine Pounamu, a stone recognised for its gentle pale green hues and grounding energy. At 14cm long, 6cm deep, and 3cm high, it is a substantial piece that fits comfortably in the hand. Its colouring is mostly soft pale green, highlighted by darker spots and natural swirls that give the stone its unique character.

One side of the touchstone has been polished to a smooth finish, bringing out the depth and variation of the stone. The other side has been left untouched, keeping the natural skin of the Pounamu intact. This contrast symbolises the relationship between the natural world and human craft, showing both the raw and refined aspects of the stone.

Touchstones are designed to be held and carried, providing comfort, focus, and connection. They can also serve as a mauri stone – a vessel that holds and protects the life force of a whānau, a whare, or a kaupapa. In this role, the stone becomes more than an object; it is a guardian of energy, wellbeing, and intent, grounding those it is connected to.
