Pikorua Toki Set

This was a cool challenge, and came up great.

The idea was to create a set for a man and his wife that were interconnected. He really wanted two pieces with toki and pikorua as the symbols. Having the pikorua symbol flow between them as well as having the pieces made from the same pounamu will forever link these two special taonga.

This set symbolizes the joining of two paths as one, just as the pikorua intertwines so do two peoples journeys through life when they choose to spend it together. Special values of commitment, love, and family are integral to this set.

All taonga pounamu go on a journey, from eons ago when they stone was formed deep under the earth, to the seismic events that brought it to the surface. Now it is interested to see the final transformation this pounamu has undergone to become the taonga they are now. From concept, carving, polishing, and lashing.
