Kokopu Pounamu Niho

This Niho pendant, crafted from Kokopu Pounamu from the Arahura River, measures 45mm in length. The stone, with its distinct speckled pattern reminiscent of the native Kokopu fish, captures the spirit of Aotearoa’s natural beauty. The deep greens and unique markings of Kokopu Pounamu make each piece truly one-of-a-kind, reflecting the environment from which it originates.

The pendant features a three-hole ringbolt lashing in black, which provides both durability and a striking visual contrast against the stone. The braided cord is thoughtfully designed with sliding knots, allowing for easy adjustment to suit different preferences and ensuring a comfortable fit for the wearer.

The Niho shape, symbolising strength, protection, and the enduring connection between the wearer and their heritage, makes this piece not just an accessory, but a meaningful taonga to be treasured.

Holding this Niho close brings the essence of the Arahura River to the wearer, connecting them to the land, the water, and the stories of Aotearoa.
