Head Students Niho 2024
As the year draws to a close, I’ve had the honour of creating a special set of taonga to recognise the contributions of the head students at my kura. This set of five Niho, carved from a single piece of Kawakawa Pounamu sourced from South Westland, embodies the connection these leaders have shared with each other and with our school community.

Each of these head students has played a pivotal role in shaping the culture of our kura. Their dedication, charisma, and expertise have left a lasting impact, helping to build a successful and inclusive environment. Their efforts have been deeply appreciated, and they can take pride in the legacy they leave behind.

The Niho, with its shape symbolising strength and determination, is a fitting tribute to their leadership and the time they have given so selflessly. Carved from the same piece of Pounamu, these taonga are a reminder of the bond they share, their connection to the kura, and the value they hold within our community. Each piece carries the mana of their collective journey, serving as a lifelong reminder of their achievements and contributions.

It’s my hope that these taonga will remind them of their time here and inspire them as they move forward, knowing they remain forever connected to each other and the kura.
