Named Toki Āwhiorangi, meaning “a swirling or eddying movement like water or mist,” this 80mm Toki is part of Paul Berry’s Mana Range and carved from a stunning white-flowered piece of Marsden Jade heartstone. The colours ripple through the piece like light dancing across water—creamy whites flowing over soft green and stone-toned layers.
The form is a stylised waterfall Toki, featuring multiple dimensional curves across the front. Flowing freeform lines carve riverbed-like shapes through the body of the piece, grounding it in the natural movement of water across stone.
A miniature replica toggle accompanies the main piece—an echo of its form in perfect balance. Together, they carry meaning and presence, reinforcing the concept of reflection and continuity.
The Toki represents strength and purpose. In this piece, the meaning expands to include graceful momentum—enduring like water carving its way through the whenua. A taonga of grounded beauty and quiet determination.
