Description

This Niho (tooth) is carved from stunning Pounamu with a light green base and darker patterning running through it. The piece is 55mm long and features a hidden hole, giving a clean, smooth finish with a natural tan lashing over the top.

The Niho is shaped as a shark tooth, symbolising strength, resilience, and determination. In Māori culture, the shark (mangō) is a guardian of the ocean, respected for its power and ability to endure. The Niho reminds us to face challenges head-on, keep moving forward, and stand strong in the face of adversity.

The light and dark tones in this stone give it the feeling of movement and connection to the ocean. The hidden hole allows the Pounamu to be fully seen and appreciated, with the lashing adding a natural touch. This piece is a taonga to be worn with pride, carrying the meaning of strength and protection.
