This stunning Roimata is carved from A-grade Kawakawa Pounamu, known for its deep green colour and remarkable translucency. The pendant has straight tapered sides and a gently curved base, measuring 8cm in length. I’ve added a white spiral lashing to complement the rich green tones of the stone. This was a cool job to do. I really liked the natural finish of these pieces as well as how they ended up looking with the full kuru lashing. You can see in the photos below the starting point and then the process I went through to reshape them for the lashing.
