Whanau ō te Ngahere
This is a set for a special whanau that connect with the ngahere/bush. they even had the analogy of a sheltering tree in their wedding vows.
The fact that these are all from the same piece of pounamu as well as the connected through the theme of the ngahere is double important for this whanau.
The ruru is for the mother, always watching, calm and competent, caring.
The dog tag with the stylised koru and harakeke is for the father. It represents whanau and how important this is, and how important being gentle and nurturing is.
The two manu, one piwakawaka (fantail), and one tui, are for the sisters.
The piwakawaka represents a playful outlook on life.
While the tui represents a musical streak.
All together this set is to represent the connection and kotahitanga (unity) of their whanau.
These all have a special hidden feature inside. A wonderful translucency is revealed when held up to the light. It feels like you can really see into the pounamu, see the hidden patterns and character that it holds. This makes this set truly special.
