Whai Matauranga

Sometimes you meet people that stand out from the rest. I find that pounamu is a way for me to acknowledge these people tautoko their whakairo and their mahi. That is what this taonga is created for.

This is for a Mana Wahine and the inverted triangle represents this.

The Harakeke carved into the surface represents drive, ambition, growth, pursuit of learning and excellence. It is also symbolic of whanau and manaakitanga in how the new growth of the harakeke is nurtured and sheltered by they older as it grows. These are all aspects I felt and experienced from the person I gifted this to.
