Toki – Yukon Jade

This toki is made for a graduation.  It is made for someone that has a connection with both the Yukon where this jade is from and with New Zealand where they completed their studies.

I really like the white flower pattern near the lashing on this one, it is inclusions like this that give a pendant its own unique character.

This is great quality jade and is beautiful and consistent to carve.  It holds an edge well which means I can make the cutting edge more realistic and true to the inspirational form of the original pounamu toki that were used pre European arrival.  It also has wonderful translucent properties that allow you to see into the pounamu when held up to the light.

  • Jasper Toki

In the quiet embrace of Kaitorete Spit/Birdlings Flat in Canterbury, New Zealand, nature bestowed a humble gift—a beach pebble of Jasper, weathered by time and tides. From this unassuming stone, a short, wide toki emerged, standing at a mere 4cm in height, yet carrying a profound weight of meaning. This toki, cradled by a four-braid…
