Ruru

Crafted from the rich, dark green stone native to New Zealand, this Pounamu pendant takes the shape of the Ruru, New Zealand’s native owl. The carving, with its smooth, curved lines, mirrors the Ruru’s natural silhouette. The pendant’s colour is a deep forest green with lighter green hues, resembling the shades of the New Zealand bush.

This particular pendant mimics the form of the Ruru, with a broad body and detailed head. The Ruru is known for its wisdom and watchfulness, qualities that the wearer of this pendant may carry with them. The spiral pattern on the head is a ‘koru’, symbolizing growth and harmony.

Pounamu, also known as greenstone or New Zealand jade, is highly valued in Maori culture. It represents strength, durability, and status. Traditionally, Pounamu is passed down as a heirloom, carrying the spirits of the ancestors with it.
