Roimata Whakatipu
This Roimata was carved to complete a set. The owner already had a pair of earrings carved in the same design, each with a koru cut from the sides and three notches at the base. Those notches represent the past, present, and future — the journey of life and the growth that continues through it. This pendant brings those ideas together, combining both earrings into one unified taonga.

Carved from deep green Kawakawa Pounamu, the stone holds a quiet strength and warmth when worn. The form of the Roimata symbolises tears of emotion — of compassion, healing, and connection. The koru shapes flowing in from the sides represent new beginnings and continuous growth, reminding the wearer that life moves in cycles and that each stage leads to renewal.

The pendant’s tapered form and notched base echo the earrings’ design, binding them together through shared symbolism and story. Now, with this Roimata, the set is complete — a taonga that unites the past and future through a single piece, honouring connection and continuity.
