The Roimata is one of the most enduring forms in Māori carving traditions. This 55mm Roimata is carved from highly translucent Kahurangi Pounamu. When held to the light, the stone reveals remarkable depth and colour, showcasing the qualities that make this variety of Pounamu so sought after. Rather than a highly uniform shape, this piece follows a more organic form, with one edge gently rounded and the other carrying a finer line that creates subtle visual contrast. The stone has been tumbled during finishing, giving the surface a natural character and soft texture that complements the flowing shape. It is completed with a black Roimata lashing that follows the side of the pendant and enhances its elegant profile.
