Te Koru Mārama

$380.00

Te Koru Mārama means “The Enlightened Spiral,” reflecting the koru’s symbolism of growth and new beginnings, and the bright clarity of this Kahurangi Pounamu. This taonga is carved from a highly translucent stone, around 50mm high, with the koru carved into the front of a tumbled pebble. I tumbled the stone in my workshop to preserve its natural flowing curves before carving into it. When held to the light, the vivid green glows, highlighting the depth and life within the stone. It is ready to wear and is a one-of-a-kind piece.

Description

Te Koru Mārama means “The Enlightened Spiral.” The name reflects both the meaning of the koru and the luminous quality of this Kahurangi Pounamu. The koru symbolises new life, personal growth, renewal, and the unfolding journey we each take. Paired with the clarity of this stone, it speaks to growth that is guided by clarity and inner strength.

This piece stands approximately 50mm high and began as a natural pebble. I tumbled it in my workshop to bring out its natural flowing curves and smooth surface, allowing the original form of the stone to lead the design. Rather than reshaping it heavily, I carved the koru into the front, letting the spiral emerge from the existing shape.

The Kahurangi Pounamu is highly translucent, with a bright, vibrant green that comes alive when held to the light. The depth within the stone enhances the carved koru, giving it movement and presence.

This is a one-of-a-kind taonga, ready to wear, shaped by both the natural form of the pebble and the meaning carried within the koru.
