Honey Inanga Pounamu Toki
$300.00
I carved this toki from incredibly translucent inanga pounamu from South Westland. Its unusual colouring combines a milky base with warm, honey-yellow tones that show clearly when held to the light. The toki represents strength, determination and perseverance. Suspended from a black cord, this one-of-a-kind taonga comes ready to wear.

Description
This toki is carved from inanga pounamu from South Westland, with distinctive milky, honey-toned colouring. A soft yellow warmth runs through the stone, giving it an appearance reminiscent of honey jade. Its incredible translucency adds depth to the colour, particularly when light passes through it.
The toki form draws on the traditional adze, a tool used for shaping timber and building waka and other structures. As a pendant, it represents strength, determination and perseverance—a reminder of the effort and skill needed to shape something worthwhile.
I suspended this toki from a black cord, which contrasts with the warm, pale stone and highlights its unusual colouring. This one-of-a-kind taonga comes ready to wear, as a personal reminder of strength or a gift for someone facing a challenge or taking a new direction.
