Hapopo Pounamu Roimata
$230.00
I carved this elongated roimata from incredibly translucent hapopo pounamu from South Westland. Its light green base is crossed by dark, almost black streaks that give the stone a distinctive character. Representing aroha, remembrance and comfort, this one-of-a-kind taonga is finished with a tan cord and roimata lashing, ready to wear.

Description
This elongated roimata is carved from hapopo pounamu from South Westland. The stone has a light green base with dark, almost black inclusions streaking through it. Its remarkable translucency reveals the depth of these patterns when held to the light, while the long teardrop shape highlights their natural direction.
Roimata means teardrop, and the form carries meaning connected to aroha, grief, remembrance and comfort. It can represent the love we hold for someone, acknowledge a loss or offer support through a difficult time. Carved in pounamu, these connections become a lasting taonga to wear close.
I finished this pendant with a tan cord and roimata lashing. The tan complements the lighter green stone and provides a contrast to its dark streaks. This one-of-a-kind roimata comes ready to wear, as a personal taonga or a meaningful gift.
