Description
The Roimata is one of the most enduring forms in Māori carving traditions. Often associated with healing, strength, remembrance, and emotional connection, it is a taonga that acknowledges both the challenges we face and the relationships that support us through them. Its flowing form reflects the journey of life, carrying stories, memories, and connections close to the heart.
This Roimata measures 65mm long and has been carved from richly coloured forest green Pounamu. The stone displays beautiful natural character, with patterning and depth becoming more visible when held to the light. Measuring approximately 15mm wide at the top and 25mm at its widest point, it has a balanced presence without being oversized. The flatter profile allows it to sit comfortably against the chest, while the black three-hole ring bolt lashing provides a clean and traditional finish that complements the earthy tones of the stone.
