Description

This large 80mm Pounamu Toki is carved from a stunning piece of deep green stone with white inclusions running through it. The depth of the green gives it a strong presence, while the pale inclusions add contrast and interest, reminding us of rivers running through native forest or mist hanging in a valley.

The Toki is a traditional Māori tool shape, originally used as an adze for carving and shaping. As a taonga, the Toki symbolises strength, determination, and resilience. Worn around the neck, it represents a person’s commitment to working hard, overcoming challenges, and building a solid path forward. It’s often gifted to mark milestones like a new job, a graduation, or a leadership role—times when strength and perseverance are needed.

This piece is shaped with clean lines and a strong edge, allowing the beauty of the stone to speak for itself. The large size gives it weight and presence, perfect as a statement piece or heirloom. Whether you wear it yourself or gift it to someone important in your life, this Toki carries a timeless message of inner strength and purpose.
