Description

The Roimata is one of the most enduring forms in Māori carving traditions. Associated with healing, emotional strength, remembrance, and connection, it is a taonga that acknowledges the experiences and relationships that shape our lives. Worn close to the heart, the Roimata serves as a reminder of the people we carry with us, the challenges we overcome, and the values that guide us.

This pendant measures 25mm high and is carved from exceptionally dark green Pounamu. At first glance the stone appears almost black, but under good light its deep green tones become visible. Scattered throughout the stone are soft pale flower patterns in shades of cream, yellow, and white, creating a beautiful contrast against the darker background. The shape follows a gentle triangular form, with an asymmetrical base that rises slightly higher on one side, giving the piece a natural and flowing character.

The pendant is fitted with a sterling silver finding and supplied with a silver-coloured chain. The chain can easily be replaced if a different length or style is preferred, allowing the taonga to be worn in a way that suits its owner. Delicate in size but rich in character, this piece highlights the natural beauty of Pounamu while carrying the enduring meaning of the Roimata form.
