Roimata Arataki means guiding tear. The name was chosen to reflect the traditional meaning of the roimata—grief, loss, and emotional release—combined with the qualities of the manu, which represents guidance, awareness, and direction. This taonga is a long roimata carved as a stylised manu form, measuring 95mm in length. The eye-like opening at the top narrows into a fine, beak-like point, giving the piece a sense of movement and intent.
