Pipiwhirauroa Inganga Wedding Set

Two pendants that have been connected side by side for a very long time. These two have patterning that flows from one to the other. This is a set to celebrate the formal connection of marriage for the husband and wife to always have a tangible symbol of their connectedness.

This shows how they lay before being carved and emphasizes the shared connection of these two pieces even further.

Pipiwhirauroa is a the Long tailed cuckoo. This pounmau is named for the liner bands that can form with the fibres of nephrite. They appear at chatoyant lines that can shimmer when they catch the light.

Inganga is the name for whitebait, and the pale green milky aspect of this pounamu is what it refers to. Inganga is a highly sought after type of pounamu that is not very common. This piece originally came from the Arahura.
