Endless Flow – Guatemalan Jadeite Mobius

There’s something captivating about a Mobius form — the way it twists back on itself, creating a single, unbroken surface that has no true beginning or end. It’s a simple shape that feels like a riddle made real: what appears to have an inside and an outside is, in truth, one continuous path.

I carved Endless Flow from Guatemalan jadeite, a stone sometimes known as Olmec jade or ice jade. It’s one of the most beautiful stones I’ve ever worked with — a pale, icy blue that seems to hold its own quiet light, with soft white patterns like frozen bubbles suspended within. The stone has a subtle translucence, giving depth to every curve and fold.

This piece is smooth and tactile, inviting to hold and trace. Its soft edges meet gentle ridges that catch the light just enough to reveal the continuous movement of the form. It’s a carving that feels calm in the hand — a reminder of connection, continuity, and balance.

For me, Endless Flow symbolises the cyclical nature of life — how every twist and turn brings us back to ourselves.

The Pounamu is from the Kaniere area, and as you can see is a striking layered pattern.  It…
