Pointed Roimata
A cool shape that I really enjoyed carving. The light honey colored lashing goes really well with the tones of this pounamu too.

This set is to mark a 50th, to connect two people, and connect to what is important to them. Nature, the outdoors, and adventures are a part of this couples life and the wave is a symbol of this that connects. The colors in this pounamu make me think of the ocean as well as…
This is a special piece made for a Mother from her children. The carving goes right around the bottom to represent her ‘groundedness’. The line then wraps around and finishes pointing upwards. This represents her as an inspirational role model through being powerful, intelligent and motivational. A pretty cool gift from your kids.
This set was created for a couple that are moving away. Made from the same piece of pounamu, it will always connect them to each other. As well as connect them with the place and people they have left.

This is a classic shaped roimata with a beautiful patterned pounamu.

The carving on this roimata represents a journey. The koru for growth and achievement. In this case the milestone of becoming a registered kaiako. The winding path below it…
This was a cool job to do. I really liked the natural finish of these pieces as well as how they ended up looking with the full kuru lashing. You can see in the photos below the starting point and then the process I went through to reshape them for the lashing.
