Whanau Tahi Toki

My latest creation, the Whānau Tahi Toki (United Family Toki), is made from the unique and stunning Douglas Creek Pounamu. This piece, commissioned as a wedding gift, symbolizes the unity of two families coming together in love and harmony. Designed to be displayed as a sculpture, its intricate details and profound meaning make it a truly special piece.

This Whānau Tahi Toki is adorned with a double koru on the front, symbolizing the joining of two families through the bond of marriage. The koru, inspired by the unfurling fern frond, represents new beginnings, growth, and harmony. The double koru further emphasizes the unity and love shared between the two families coming together.

Douglas Creek Pounamu is renowned for its incredible patterning, featuring a mesmerizing blend of black, various shades of green, white, and clear parts. This distinctive stone adds a remarkable visual depth to the Toki, making it not only a piece of art but also a testament to the natural beauty of New Zealand’s treasured greenstone.

Creating this Whānau Tahi Toki from Douglas Creek Pounamu was an honor. The piece’s intricate patterning and profound symbolism make it a meaningful gift for a wedding, embodying the essence of love and unity. As it stands proudly displayed, it will serve as a beautiful reminder of the special bond formed on such a joyous occasion.
