Tapatoru Whanau, Triangle and Family
This piece is a nice way to connect a mother with her whanau.
The koru in the middle represent the members of her whanau and come together in a manawa or heart shape for the aroha between these people.

I recently had the honour of carving a unique set of Pounamu pendants, made from translucent Hapopo Pounamu sourced from South Westland. I have named this set Kotahi Wairua, which means “One Spirit” in Māori. This name was chosen to reflect the deep and unbreakable bond that the twins share, emphasizing that despite being two…

Pakohe, or argillite, is a fine-grained mudstone highly prized by Māori for its durability and ability to take a sharp edge. This name reflects the strength of…
This was an amazing set for a special person. The koru in this piece each represent members of the family, with the parents above looking over and protecting the children. The koru shape comes from unfurling fern fronds that are found all over the wilderness in the bush in Aotearoa. They represent, life, new beginnings,…
Gorgeous set made from the same slice of pounmau. Always cool to see some of the process from where the pounamu started to what it is now.
This is a spectacular pounamu and a spectacular set of carvings for this whanau. It is made from inganga pounamu from the Arahura river. It has chatoyant or pipiwhirauroa characteristics which can make it shimmer in the light. It is named for the long tail feathers of the pipiwhirauroa. First steps were choosing the slices…
