Description
This 9cm Roimata is carved from Kawakawa Pounamu, a stone known for its deep green hues and strong connection to the whenua. The Roimata, or teardrop, symbolises healing, remembrance, and resilience. It is often gifted as a token of support and aroha, carrying the weight of emotions and the wisdom gained through life’s challenges.
This taonga is extra special to me as it was a collaboration with my 11-year-old son. Working together on this piece was a meaningful experience, reflecting the passing down of knowledge and the strengthening of whānau bonds.
Finished with a black lashing, this Roimata is smooth and tactile, perfect for wearing close to the heart.
