8cm Roimata

Gorgeous Southwestland Pounamu Roimata. This has a mix of colours an shades in it. The roimata is some of my favourite shapes to carve. The curves are very satisfying when you get them right.

Pounamu, or New Zealand greenstone, is a cherished gemstone often used in carving significant items, with Roimata representing a teardrop shape. This symbol is traditionally believed to embody healing and comforting properties, often given to provide solace and strength during trying times. The Roimata can be particularly poignant in moments of grief, loss, or transition, as it carries the sentiment of shared sorrow, compassion, and empathy. Yet, it also embodies a beacon of hope and rejuvenation, representing the continual ebb and flow of life, akin to a tear’s journey. Thus, the Pounamu Roimata is more than a simple trinket; it’s a totem of human resilience and the inherent connection we share in our collective experiences.
