Description
This Triple Twist Pikorua is a powerful taonga, carved from Hapopo Pounamu sourced from the rugged landscapes of South Westland. The stone has a luminous translucency, glowing with layered shades of green when held to the light. At 90mm long, its flowing curves are balanced by a pointed flick at the base, adding movement and life to the design. The inner parts of the twist remain connected, strengthening the piece both physically and symbolically.
The Pikorua, or twist, is a design that speaks to relationships and connection. It symbolises the intertwining paths of people whose journeys are bound together, whether through love, friendship, or shared purpose. The triple twist extends this meaning, representing loyalty and eternity across generations or groups, a reminder that even when people may travel in different directions, their bond remains unbroken.
This taonga would hold special meaning for someone wanting to honour a lasting relationship, celebrate unity in whÄnau, or carry a symbol of enduring connection. Wearing this Pounamu brings with it both the strength of the stone and the mana of the form it holds.
