Te Tūhononga

Description

Te Tūhononga means “The Connection”, reflecting the bond between people, places, and shared experiences. This matching pair has been hand carved from Tākiri Pounamu sourced from Douglas Creek, allowing both taonga to carry the same natural colours, patterns, and history within the stone.

The set includes a 70 mm Kōuma and a 70 mm Hei Toki, each suspended on a black cord. The Kōuma is finished with a five-hole ring-bolt lashing that complements its broad, flowing form, while the Hei Toki features a traditional toki lashing that suits its classic design.

The Kōuma is associated with abundance, nourishment, and generosity, representing the sharing of knowledge, resources, and care. The Hei Toki symbolises strength, resilience, courage, and determination, making it a reminder to meet life’s challenges with purpose.
