Description
This Hei Toki is carved by Paul Berry from a beautiful piece of mixed-patterned pounamu from the Tasman area. The stone has a subtle blue tinge within its green, a distinctive characteristic of some stones found in that region. At 75mm long, the form is clean, balanced, and designed for everyday wear.
The piece hangs from a full braided cord that blends dark brown, light brown, and a touch of purple-grey, giving it an earthy, grounded feel. The toggle is carved from the same pounamu, tying the whole taonga together.
The Hei Toki shape carries strong meaning in te ao MÄori. Traditionally linked to the adze blades used for carving and building, the toki stands for strength, resilience, clarity, and the ability to shape your own path. It reflects steady determination, the courage to take on challenges, and the drive to keep moving forward.
This taonga suits someone who is grounded, purposeful, and committed to forging their own direction in life.
