Description
Niho Raukaraka is a tooth-shaped taonga carved from Raukaraka Pounamu. The stone carries distinctive golden-brown colouring around the tip and outer edge, blending into deeper greens and pale Inanga-like tones through the main body. These colour changes come from the outer areas of the stone and give the piece depth and character without needing added detail.
The Niho form traditionally represents strength, resilience, and protection. This piece keeps that meaning clear through its clean lines and understated shape. The hidden hole carved into the back allows the black cord to pass through discreetly, keeping the presentation simple and uncluttered when worn.
At 55mm long, this Niho has a strong presence while remaining comfortable for everyday wear. It is a one-off taonga that highlights the natural beauty and variation found in Raukaraka Pounamu.
