This taonga is carved from Ōnewa basalt from Whakaraupō, Lyttelton Harbour. The 65mm piece has a slender, gently curved form reminiscent of a whale tooth and is finished with a four-hole ringbolt lashing on a harakeke-green cord.

Description
The Niho Taniwha design represents strength, resilience, and the courage to face challenges. Inspired by the teeth of the taniwha, it symbolises determination and the ability to move forward through difficult moments.
This taonga is carved from dark Ōnewa basalt from Whakaraupō, Lyttelton Harbour. The stone has a deep grey colour and a solid, grounded feel.
At 65mm long, this piece is slender and gently curved, with softly rounded edges that give it a subtle whale tooth-like form. It is finished with a four-hole ringbolt lashing on a harakeke-green cord that contrasts with the dark basalt.
