Description
The Niho Taniwha design represents strength and the courage to face adversity. Inspired by the teeth of the taniwha, it symbolises resilience, determination, and the ability to move forward through life’s challenges.
This taonga is carved from Ōnewa basalt sourced from Whakaraupō, Lyttelton Harbour. The stone has a deep dark grey colour and a solid, grounding presence that suits the strength of the Niho Taniwha form.
A five-hole rainbow lashing secures the pendant at the top, finished with a tan cord that contrasts subtly with the dark basalt. The result is a bold, grounded taonga that reflects both the strength of the design and the landscape the stone comes from.
