Description

Niho Kaha is an 85mm pendant carved from Kawakawa Pounamu, a deep, rich green stone with a striking edge of its lighter rind still visible. The natural contrast of colour highlights the stone’s journey from river to taonga. It is finished with a three-hole ringbolt lashing in black cord and a four-braid necklace, ready to wear.

The niho, or tooth, is a traditional design that symbolises strength, courage, and guardianship. Inspired by the teeth of the shark, it represents resilience, tenacity, and the ability to protect oneself and others. Worn close to the chest, it carries the mana of perseverance through life’s challenges and the quiet confidence of inner strength.
