Kōtuitui
$900.00
Kōtuitui speaks to connection that remains strong even through separation. Carved from the same piece of Kawakawa Pounamu, this matching Toki and Roimata symbolise two people whose lives, histories, or relationships remain interwoven no matter where life takes them. Though the stone has been divided into two taonga, both pieces still carry the same shared origin and journey within them.

Description
Kōtuitui means interwoven, stitched together, and closely linked. The name reflects the kaupapa behind this pair of taonga — two pieces created from the same stone that remain forever connected through their shared beginning. These taonga speak to relationships shaped through aroha, whānau, friendship, or shared experience. Even when separated, the connection remains present, carried within the Pounamu itself.
This set was carved from a beautifully patterned piece of Kawakawa Pounamu and includes a long-form Toki and Roimata, both measuring 85mm long. The stone carries striking natural variation, with deep rich greens blending into lighter tones and flowing patterning throughout both pieces. Finished with black lashings, the taonga clearly share the same whakapapa within the stone while still holding their own individual forms. The Toki symbolises strength, resilience, and purpose, while the Roimata represents healing, emotion, and connection, creating a balanced pair designed to be worn together or shared between two people.
