Hononga Tuku Iho celebrates connection carried across generations. This matching set includes an 80mm Roimata and an 80mm Toki, both carved from the same piece of deep green Kawakawa Pounamu. Sharing the same patterning and translucency, the two taonga remain connected through the stone from which they came. Finished with black lashings, they are a meaningful expression of connection between people, place, and whakapapa.

Description
Hononga Tuku Iho can be translated as connections that are handed down. It speaks to the relationships, stories, values, and memories that pass between people over time, linking generations together.
These two taonga began as a single piece of Kawakawa Pounamu. Long before they were carved, the stone formed deep within the earth under immense pressure and remained together for countless years. Today, that single piece has been divided into two taonga, each carrying the same colours, translucency, and natural patterning. Although separated, they remain connected through their shared origin, making them a meaningful choice for family members, partners, close friends, or anyone wishing to acknowledge an enduring bond.
The set includes an 80mm Roimata and an 80mm Toki. The Roimata is associated with reflection, resilience, and emotional connection. The Toki is traditionally linked with strength, determination, courage, and leadership. Together they bring complementary meanings, recognising both the strength required to move forward and the relationships that support us along the way.
Both pieces are carved from richly coloured Kawakawa Pounamu with beautiful translucency and matching natural patterning visible across the pair. The Roimata follows a flowing, elegant form and is completed with a black spiral lashing. The Toki is long and slender, inspired by the shape of a whao or carving chisel, and is finished with a traditional black Toki lashing. As a pair, they tell a story of connection—to one another, to the whenua from which the stone came, and to the people who wear them.
