Description

This unique display piece is carved from Kawakawa Pounamu and stands upright at approximately 85mm high, 150mm wide, and 70mm thick. One face and the base have been polished to a smooth, glossy finish, while the reverse side proudly retains the natural rind of the original cobble, showing the contrast between the raw form of the stone and the inner beauty revealed through carving.

Kawakawa Pounamu is known for its deep, rich green tones, often with darker inclusions and a warm, earthy presence. This piece captures that perfectly—there’s depth and movement in the colour, inviting closer inspection and connection.

This is a taonga that works equally well as a visual centrepiece and a tactile touchstone. It could sit on a desk or shelf in an office or studio, offering a moment of grounding in a busy day. It may also find a place in a home, on a mantle or personal altar, where its energy and significance can be felt. As a gift, it suits occasions where strength, stability, and connection to place and purpose are important.

Holding this stone in your hand, you can feel its weight and strength—it connects you to the land it came from and the story it continues to carry.
