Description
These earrings are carved in the shape of waka hoe â the paddles that drive a waka forward. A hoe is one part of a larger whole, and its meaning sits in the idea of teamwork and collective effort. When everyone pulls together, each personâs contribution is strengthened, and the waka moves with purpose. A single hoe can move a boat, but many working together can travel great distances.
The inanga Pounamu used for this pair is a pale, soft green with beautiful translucency. Held to the light, the stone glows, showing the gentle tones and natural character of inanga. Each earring is about 80mm long and finished with 14kt gold plated sterling silver hoops and hooks.
Lightweight and meaningful, this set reflects unity, shared effort, and the strength that comes from moving forward together.
