Description
Named Mārama Aho — meaning “threads of light” — this taonga holds a calm, luminous presence. Carved from a striking piece of Inanga Pounamu, the 53mm disc glows with soft glassy greens and pale creamy hues that shift beautifully in the light. As you move it, a gentle chatoyance ripples across the surface, revealing hidden depths within the stone.
Fine linear features run naturally through the porohita, like threads weaving past to present. These lines bring a sense of direction and connection, giving the taonga both subtle structure and organic flow.
The circular form of the porohita symbolises unity, te ao hurihuri (the ever-turning world), and the cycles of life. It’s bound with a black three-hole ringbolt lashing that secures the stone without distracting from its natural beauty.
A grounded and radiant taonga, one of a kind and ready to wear.
