Description
Whanaunga means relative, kin, or one with whom we share a deep connection. This set of two taonga — a Toki and a Roimata — was carved from a single piece of Pounamu, joined together through time until this moment when they were separated to carry their shared story. To wear one is to carry a part of the other, a reminder of unity, whānau, and shared purpose.
Each taonga measures 60mm long and is made from dark, forest green serpentine from the Nelson region. When held to the light, the stone glows with a rich translucency that brings its depth to life. Both are finished with black lashings and four-braid cords, ready to wear.
The Toki represents strength, determination, and leadership — the ability to act with purpose and courage. The Roimata symbolises aroha, healing, and connection. Together, they speak of balance and the strength found in relationship.
