Modern-styled 300mm Wahaika carved from Marsden Flower Jade. Swirling gold patterns over deep green symbolise sunrise over ocean depth of self.
Description
This 300mm Wahaika is carved from a single, uninterrupted piece of Marsden Flower Jade Pounamu. The flowing golden patterns of the stone symbolise the sun’s first rays stretching across the horizon—an awakening of light against the deep green, oceanic translucency beneath. It speaks to the depth of self, the place where light and shadow meet, where clarity begins to surface from stillness.
This Wahaika is not a strict replica of traditional Māori weaponry, but a modern interpretation—carved in a style that honours tradition while expressing something new. The shape and detailing have been refined to create a piece that holds both spiritual and visual impact. It’s a taonga that feels both ancient and contemporary, perfect for someone drawn to inner strength, clarity, and transformation.
Crafted by Paul Berry, a carver whose spiritual work and ancestral lineage inform every piece he makes, this taonga carries the energy of both discipline and awakening. It is a statement piece, both in size and presence—intended for display, meditation, or ceremonial use.
