Wyoming Jade Drop – Pink Flowers

It can be hard to get really high quality, tight grained, Jade from New Zealand. This Jade is from Wyoming, it was given to me by Aaron from A Carved Piece (check him out on facebook he is an awesome carver).  It is beautiful stone, bright green with an awesome pink flower inclusion.

It was really hard to carve as well, this is a tough jade.  This is really good for making detailed and intricate designs, not that I did that here.

I love the simplicity in curves and basic forms. It is where my energy lies at the moment, making a simple shape seem like it was always that way, even curves without flat spots.  That and developing my toki designs in between commissions.

A drop or Kuru represents deep emotion which is a good translation for Aroha. For me they are best given or worn to honour a deep connection with someone or a very significant event or shared experience.  In the shape of a tear drop there is the symbolism of crying, a raw emotional response that can come from experiencing many emotions to their fullest, from joy to anger to sadness.
