Whetu – Star
This is a pounamu that is part of a larger set. The set was made for a childrens book that my wife created. There is one pounamu for each page of the book. The main page for this is called Sand in my toes salt in my nose and you can see all the artwork and pounamu there. This piece represents the heaven and the awe that they invoke. Stars, space and the night time that reveals them to us are a time to be together with whanau. This pounamu symoblises the special people in our lives, as well as those that have passed and may be watching down on us now as stars themselves.
